Guide Captain Astro through twenty levels of platforming fun - navigating past hazards, disabling enemies, and rescuing crew members along the way. Although short, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission is a must-play title that makes use of virtual reality in all sorts of innovative ways.
You’ll need to move your head to find the best pathways to travel and smash down obstructing walls by bashing your face into them. There are also sections where you’ll duck your head underwater to watch Astro swim. These are just some clever ways Astro Bot makes good use VR that will keep you smiling with amusement to the end.
You have been captured whilst searching for your missing wife and need to escape from a dilapidated mansion inhabited by a deranged cannibalistic family. If that sounds like your kind of fun, then you’re in for a treat.
Being stalked around every corner of an eerily quiet mansion by its horrifying inhabitants creates a taut and vulnerable survival horror experience. Everything from the engaging storyline to the gorgeous visuals draws you further into the nightmarish world that will have horror fans screaming in fear and delight.
Dual wield glowing sabers and slice colored blocks to the beat of a selection of adrenaline-pumping tunes. Beat Saber is a rhythm game with gameplay so addictive that you’ll find it on many top-ten game lists.
It’s easy to see the wide appeal of Beat Saber as it ticks a lot of boxes - being a comfortable experience for new VR users, easy to pick up and play, and fun for both young and old alike. Beat Saber is also great for a cardio workout too.
The sights and sounds from the Star Wars franchise are faithfully recreated in this arcade space flight combat sim - from the highly detailed cockpit interiors to the familiar sound of laser fire, it’s all there.
The single-player campaign lets you play as both the New Republic and the Empire, with eight ships available to pilot. Dogfighting in space never gets old and makes for an authentic, action-packed Star Wars experience that’s hard to put down.
Think you’ve experienced everything Tetris has to offer? Think again. Tetris Effect takes this classic puzzler and reimagines it in a way that takes it to a completely new level. Brilliant sound and visual design is combined with the puzzle gaming experience we all know and love to create a fantastic puzzle game that still feels fresh even after all these years.
Few have mastered the VR platform quite like Schell Games, the developers of I Expect You To Die 2 (IEYTD2). You take on the role of a secret agent trying to foil the plans of the evil Zoraxis organization.
This escape room-style puzzle game is filled with spy tropes and numerous elaborate and hilarious ways to die. The puzzles are well thought out, the VR mechanics work incredibly well and the story is delivered in an immersive cinematic style that will keep you hooked.
Blood & Truth offers fast-paced run-and-gun action that will make you feel like you’re part of an action movie. Demolishing buildings with C4, engaging in high-speed car chases, and taking down attack choppers are just some over-the-top action sequences that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes makes clever use of the naturally isolating nature of VR to deliver a coop experience like no other. The headset wearer attempts to defuse a bomb whilst other players read from a manual and give instructions on what to do. The manual is available to view on a computer, or mobile device or can be printed for authenticity.
Quick and efficient communication is key, especially with the more challenging bombs encountered later in the game which require written notes. Whilst only the person in the VR headset can attempt to defuse the bomb, there is no limit to the number of people who read from the manual to give instructions - making this the perfect party game.
Superhot VR is a shooter with a very interesting mechanic - time stops when you do. Freezing in motion will stop time allowing you to survey your surroundings and plan your next move in order to destroy the red crystalline enemies. Dodging waves of incoming bullets Matrix-style and using everything in the environment - from guns to ashtrays - to shatter your foes makes for an incredibly fun, strategic shooter.
