Best VR Games Of All Time

If you’re after a list of the top ten VR games, then you’ve come to the right place. We’ve picked out some of the best of the best VR games ever made across all major platforms and featured them below. So without further ado, let’s see what games have made our master list of must-play titles.

Astro Bot: Rescue Mission (PSVR)

Astro Bot

Guide Astro Bot on a mission to rescue his crew in this epic platforming adventure that takes place across 26 action-packed missions. The clever level design achieves a good balance of reward and challenge, offering some of the best 3D platforming I’ve ever experienced. VR is a welcome addition to the game that works to absorb you into the colorful world and helps when trying to find secret goodies hidden away throughout each stage.

Half-Life: Alyx (Rift, Vive, PCVR, Windows MR)

Half Life Alyx

Whenever asked about the best AAA experiences for VR, Half-Life: Alyx is always the first to leap to mind. Play as Alyx Vance as you battle your way through a dystopian city filled with merciless alien creatures known as the Combine. Featuring over 10 hours of riveting narrative, action-packed shootouts, and thoughtful puzzle design, this is one adventure you’re not going to want to miss.

Rec Room (Rift, Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR, PCVR, Windows MR)

RecRoom

As a multiplayer experience, Rec Room wins on so many levels. Firstly, it’s free which is a good thing in and of itself, but this also helps give it a huge player base so you’re hardly ever stuck trying to find someone to play with. It also offers a smorgasbord of things to do which includes bowling, paintball, laser tag, dodgeball, cooperative quests, user-created content, and much more. No matter your preferences or mood, Rec Room is sure to have something to interest you.

Beat Saber (Rift, Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR, PCVR)

Beat Saber

This music and rhythm game was released back in 2018 and still tops many ‘best games’ lists to this day, which is a testament to its brilliance. The gameplay involves dodging obstacles and slicing incoming blocks using colorful sabers, all to the rhythm of some excellent tunes. Whilst Beat Saber is easy to pick up and play, it’s difficult to master, which makes for one super addictive title that will have you coming back time and time again.

Resident Evil 7 (PSVR)

Resident Evil 7

Play as Ethan Winters, a man who falls captive to a killer cannibal family known as the Bakers whilst searching for his missing wife. Some of the best survival horror games ever made have come from the Resident Evil franchise, with RE7 being no exception. The use of VR works to dial the horror up to a ten by immersing players in the decaying mansion they need to desperately escape in order to get away from the horrifying inhabitants chasing them down. Good luck.

I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy And The Liar (Rift, Meta Quest, PSVR, PCVR)

I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy And The Liar

I Expect You To Die 2 (IEYTD2) takes all of the spy cliches, the elaborate booby traps, hidden lairs, and over-the-top villains; then rolls them into one hilarious, thought-provoking puzzle game. Foil the evil Zoraxis organization's plans for world domination by solving deadly puzzles, in this incredibly cinematic experience that will leave you wanting more.

Until You Fall (Rift, Vive, Meta Quest, PSVR, PCVR)

Until You Fall

From the creators of IEYTD2 comes this roguelike arcade action masterpiece. Fight your way through stage after stage of progressively difficult enemies using a selection of melee weapons and magic. The fast-paced action strikes a perfect balance of skill and speed that’s both challenging and rewardingly addictive.

Demeo (Rift, Meta Quest, Vive, PCVR, Windows MR)

Demeo

Demeo takes a traditional fantasy board game and turns it into a glorious VR experience featuring six character classes to choose from and four separate campaigns, with more content to come. Move your hero through a procedurally generated dungeon, slaying monsters and collecting loot along the way. Demeo can be played single-player, but as with most board games, it’s at its best when played cooperatively with 2-4 players. This classic VR title continues to improve with the recent addition of a mixed-reality mode which allows you to place the virtual board in your real-world environment. There’s also a hand-tracking feature to come in future updates.

Walkabout Mini Golf (Rift, Meta Quest, PCVR)

Walkabout Mini Golf

This almost perfect recreation of mini golf delivers a generous 144 holes over 8 brilliantly designed courses. More content can also be added through additional DLC, with my favorite being the course designed off the 1986 classic film, Labyrinth. In addition to the great course design, the ball and club physics are exceptional and the multiplayer mode for up to 8 players is a great way to catch up with friends.

Asgards Wrath (Rift)

Asgards Wrath

If you’re after a substantial fantasy RPG, then the polished 30+ hour campaign offered by Asgards Wrath will have you covered. Become a God and defeat your foes with the awesome powers you yield in this epic action adventure steeped in Norse mythology. Asgard’s Wrath gives you everything you might want in a VR title, from adrenaline-fueled battles to innovative puzzles and gorgeous environments to explore.
